U-19 team Dordrecht: Day 4 Resting Day
11/07/2011
Today a day of resting/fun and some tactical training. Yes after the step forward the team mentally made yesterday, they might be ready to play together. But first things first: Dordrecht city!!!
A kinda boring little town with some shops and places to eat, drink but no more.
Luckily I quickly thought of some fun challenges to motivate the team and have fun.
First challenge: run as fast as you can!
We had a speed-trap for cars on a road, this we used to look who is the fastest. Winner: Kristof
Losers, injured because they went flat-out, or lost their shoes: Florentin and Dante.
Second challenge: Pull up as much as possible, the record was 27.
Third challenge: Get through the fountain as the first one. Winner: Jelle.
And the final challenge was some ball-games in the park. Winner: Dante.
After dinner it was time to go back and focus again. Our step forward finally made the guys ready to think about hockey. This means think forward, or look and act.
We practised some tactical situation: what to do, what to avoid and how to react. The hardest fact will still be that they just aren’t fit enough… This will hang above their heads and will block most progress from here on.
But the guys are still so eager and motivated! They heard about the last games the Dutch have had, and want to take this chance to show what they are able.
Our goals are simple: start to play together! This can result in loosing the game with 20-0, making a goal or even winning when we have an act of god 😉
They will try this or die trying, this fact i kinda like about them right now. Whatever happens, they rule the camping and Belgian team with their high spirit and motivation!
Good night!
