Pirate Tournament thanks for coming!
21/02/2012
Each year we try to hold a tournament here in Bilzen, this year we came up with a theme. It was called
the pirate tournament (note: at the right side we got suggestion for what our next tournament should be! So vote!! Or make a comment below in the box).
In total we had 8 teams this year. Despite the promotion not many teams subscribed, but we had fun anyway being dressed up and playing underwater hockey!
The teams were: Orca A, Orca B, Czech Ladies (with some men), Piranha, Koraalduikers, EPO, Zuunse Karpers, Hoensbroek
Each team played 7 games for 9 minutes 30 seconds some dressed up, some not. Especially the Czech team had awesome outfits, it takes a brave man to wear a sailor bathing suit haha. Check all the pictures from this tournament HERE
The final results were: 1. Orca A
2. Czech Ladies
3. Piranha
4. Koraalduikers
5. ORCA B
6. EPO
7. Zuunse Karpers
8. Hoensbroek
After the tournament we gave a prize for the best dressed pirate and had some pirate cake :D. Maybe for next year if we get more response we can even organize a party, because everybody likes a parties.

Midday 12 o’clock, ‘’ C’mon ya scurvy landlubbers we got a pool to decorate!’’ , ‘’ And make sure everything’s in place for the tournament ya rats!’’. And thus the pirate tournament was started.
In this story I’m gonna tell you about Orca B a team of landlubbers who transformed into a fearsome crew of pirates under the lead of captain (Sander) Vreven. It was a dreadful and tiring battle with little hope at the horizon.
Our first battle was against a team from Holland under the stunin’ name piranha. We gave everthin’ we had but failed with a desperate score of 6-0. Despite our hard work, breath-taking action and teamwork we yet failed to gain victory upon this team who seemed to be ascended right out of Davy jones’ locker.
It was in our second match against the Zuunse Karpers that we first tasted victory with a total of 1-3 in our favor. We fought calmer and with more teamwork which was shown our score.
Then it were the Czech ladies who we had to battle. But ladies? Rough man and fearsome women with a team play faster than the eye can see! It was inevitable that we were defeated by this strong Czech crew.
Between these matches there was an awesome atmosphere although there wasn’t any rum or booze which ya would think with al those pirates. But there were swordfights while hanging on the plank and infamous landlubbers who were thrown from the plank to land between a bunch of lunatic hockeyers that pulled into the deep. And the divers who got all these awesome, hardcore battles on tape were disturbed by some imbeciles ( like Sander ) who stole their oxygen!
A few battles later against crews like koraal, Epo, and Team Remco, with wins against Epo (2-3) and team Remco (1-2) and a lose against koraal(4-1) we finally prepared to fight a crew feared upon all the seven seas, a crew that seemed like they were spit out from hell with pirates like Blackbeard (Yoeri Slegers) and even worse scumbags! The battle began with a breathtaking duel of ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ between our own shipmate Davy and their forward man Kristof Froyen. We fought hard but unfortunately we were keelhauled by this cursed crew.
And thus ends the story to be continued another time. What awaits us the next time? That answer lies deep in a barrel of ale! That’s why I say ‘Cheers’ and a sturdy wind in your sails!
