Belgian Team for the win
25/07/2012
Off to München!
Not with our team awesome form Orca Bilzen (the core of it maybe 😉 ) but with our national team from Belgium.
Young and talented players from all over our great land! They came from high and low, beyond the dephts of..blablabla.. You get the point.
It is always a pleasure and a honour to play for your country. So we set of: Andy, Niels and me from Bilzen to play UWH in Germany and to, well, kick ass!
We arrived friday, by plane and rental car, to stumble upon our sleeping places.
Where a fire was being build. Wood was chopped and trees collected for a great barbeque. But Niels, Andy and myself saw that it would be a puny spectacle.
So we helped a little (actually we did everything) to make a mighty fire. We chopped many trees and stacked the wood so the fire was blazing!! Also the grid were the meat was to be laid upon, but that’s just minor details.
After a feast of sausages and crazy germans that ate 5 steaks (kid you not) we slept like kings in our bunkbeds. To be awoken at 3:15 by the rest of the Belgium team and Magali.
We awoke saturday for a second time that day, and set of to the pools after the team meeting with our coach Romain.
A little side note though. It had been and was still raining like crazy in München. They said the pool would be heated, but not that quite.
Luckely it was very doable.
After a final team meeting we jumped in a…26,6 degrees pool. Nice !
Our team was made up by: Niels, Andy, David, Jeremy, Steven, Kurt, Sylvain, Charly, Alexis, Valerian and me.
Good players all and it showed. Most of the premium games we won with 6-0, 8-0 andsoforth.
Pool in, play, pool out, run like girls trough the rain to the inside area of the pool, tactical, run like girls back to a tent near the pool, wait for the end of the previous game, gear up, jump in and play 🙂
Our final 3 games were the most fun. A team from the Netherlands, the Slovenian team and the Tsjech team. All hard fought, but victorious through team work !
Big pushes, lots of bottom time, fast forwards and Kurt the piled through from behind (if you know what i mean).
So Belgian national team won !
After a fun party, with lots and lots and lots of speeches we ended a fun tournament.
Looking forward for the next National tournament and/or games!
