Argonauta Tournament Breda 2012

The first big underwaterhockey competition of the year once again begins with the Argonauta Tournament in Breda. Many high level teams came from all over the world to play in this competition.

Like every year there are 3 division: Top, Sub-top and Ladies.

4 Guys from Orca (Niels, Bram, Fré and Andy) joined the BUWH team together with some other Belgian players (Valerian, Renaud, David, Kurt, Steven, Jeremy, Sylvain) and as coach the one and only Romain.

7 games were played in the Sub-top each 10 minutes long. every game was filmed with awesome quality and streamed online and displayed on the tribunes for the spectators! who said UWH is a spectator unfriendly sport!

Our first game against GOV we played a draw 2-2 despite the fact we should have won this.. But as you know the first game of the day is always difficult in my opinion.

Next one against Aqua Carca our portugese friends which is always a hard fought game we unfortunately lost with a score of 0-1. Against Le Chesney we got beaten 1-3(we won against them last year if I remember) a lot of corner situations in which we didn’t succeed in getting the puck in front of the goal to score.

Next up was pH Ljubjana, they wanted a revenge after we beaten them in the munich tournament, too bad for us they won their rematch 🙁 with a small score of 0-1.

One of our better games (despite the score) was against OSCD Dordrecht. Spent most of the time on their half, but they countered our attacks a couple of times ending in a 0-4 beat down.

Last two games we should have won both but against Lagny we finish the game with a 1-1 after being in the lead 1-0 for 9min40sec… The final game we won 2-0 against GOV.

Mixed feelings about our performance, if you know we got a well-deserved 3rd place last year. But after all it’s a learning process we know we have to focus on certain points. And we have to make sure we have the same mindset as a team to make sure we don’t start from zero each competition.
After all a lot of fun, the competition in Breda is awesome and they always have a great themeparty each year. This year it was Apres-Ski!
