A First Meeting: Tasks

30/09/2012

It’s been a while ago, I know but I still wanted to give everybody a heads up that there has been a meeting about the national elite team in Mechelen some weeks ago about the Elite team. It was right after a meeting about the Belgian competition so a short one but we managed to work out a list of tasks and responsibilities.
More difficult was linking a person to each item in the list but no job to great or difficult for the Belgian team so we did it anyway!

If other people feel interested doing certain jobs, they may always say so. Note: the people assigned for gym and water excersises will also help in preparation for the championship by posting workouts on the facebookgroup! (if you aren’t yet invite please contact Sylvain)

According to the notes of romain we assigned following people (romain if you read this please correct if we are wrong), more responsibilities for the preparation coming soon in next articles!:

Land warmup / Gym excersises: Valerian
Water warm up / Swimming excersises: Andy
Game analysis: Coach
Timing: Sylvain + Niels
Food en recovery: (Janik)
Shopping: ??
Transport: ??
Coach: ??
Manager: (Janik)

Land warm-up
Before every match. The objective is to slowly rise the temperature of our muscles which results in improving performance and reducing risk of injuries.

Water warm-up
Before every match we do a water warm-up in team.

Timing
Someone needs to be in charge of timing. This person will know exactly how long everything takes and when you need to do things (how long to: get to the pool, get changed, get gear ready, fill up drink bottles, do the land warm up…. everything!) This is the person you ask when are we…...

Food and recovery
Someone needs to be in charge of recovery food – making sure everyone has something to drink and eat after every game.

Meals and shopping
Someone needs to co-ordinate meals and shopping. Probably a couple of people. Remember up to 6 meals a day.

Transport
Someone needs to look after all aspects of transport.

Team Captain and vice Captain
The task of these guys is to have the whole team swim/play/fight in the same way during a game. These guys talk to the team and to the referee, not any one else. They should work close together with a coach outside the pool but their main responsibility lies in the pool, during a game.

Coach
This speaks for itself I think.

Manager
If the team has the luxury to have a manager this guy can take on tasks like transport, meals and shopping, food and recovery, … just so the players can focus more on the games.
